Eighteen wagons for the „Train of hope‟ headed to the earthquake region

TRANSWAGGON has provided 18 sliding-wall wagons free of charge to supply much-needed aid to the earthquake regions in Turkey and Syria. By doing so, TRANSWAGGON supported the organiser of the project, Hamburger Rail Services GmbH & Co. KG, with its request at short notice.

The ‘Train of hope’, as the organisation calls the aid project, left Hamburg on 14 February 2023, travelled through Romania and Bulgaria and reached its final destination, Kayseri railway station in Turkish Cappadocia, on 20 February 2023. From there, aid organisations distributed the donations to those in need in the earthquake regions using lorries.

The willingness of both private individuals and companies in the Hamburg area to donate was enormous: almost 400 pallets filled with donations such as sleeping bags, tents, winter clothes, baby food and even generators were loaded onto the ‘Train of hope’ in the Port of Hamburg.

The complex project would not have been possible without the help of committed companies who all pulled together for a good cause. Magdeburger Hafen GmbH shunted the TRANSWAGGON wagons free of charge so that they could later be used for their mission as the „Train of hope‟.

The following companies also supported the aid delivery:
DEUFOL Hamburg, Hamburger Filmfabrik, Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency AFAD, Rail Cargo Group, Turkish consulate Hamburg, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devlet Demiryolları (TCDD), U.I.C. United International Carriers Limited
